3 stars PIKE 133 - EMBROIDERY is the 32nd album released by BUCKETHEAD in 2015. All instruments played by BUCKETHEAD and all instrumental. Clocking in near the half hour mark at 29:17 and has three long tracks.

First up is the title track which at 7:51 is basically a doom metal track through and through. Nothing special in the doom world. It is slow, it is down-tuned, it is highly distorted. Like many doom metal tracks, this one is somewhat long and not hurried in the least bit. OK, but nothing special. Nice echoey outro.

Second up, '8 Thousand Mirrors' which clocks in at 8:26. It begins with a cool echoey guitar effect with a drum, bass and some synthesized reverby thing. This is doom metal but has a significant amount of electronic embellishment to give it a stunningly new makeover. The doom chords give way to a guitar note by note weirdness periodically but always reverts back to slower than honey- dripping-down-your-loins doom chordage.

Third up, 'Plunged' which at 13 minutes exactly has a drone metal chord start that turns into a very slow riff that is reverbed and down-tuned to my doom metal liking. This has an interesting riff that has just slightly so off time sigs and an atmospheric backing. I'm finding myself being drawn into its crunchy reverberated guitar riffage, held back drummer fury and hypnotic delivery. Love some of the syncopated grungy chord segments. Effective.

I kinda like this album. Not exactly Esoteric but perhaps a trick-or-treater knocking on their door begging for something sweet. Not as good as 'Pike 131 - Down In The Bayou Part One' but i do enjoy this. 3.5 but rounded down like the chords
