THE YES ALBUM

After two lackluster albums that demonstrated the remarkable potential of the band but simply did not deliver, this third effort by Yes is the first of three consecutive classics of progressive rock. The addition of Steve Howe and departure of Peter Banks was a decided plus in the formula for success for Yes. Anderson's lead vocals are terrific. I really like Tony Kaye's textured organ playing (don't get me wrong, that doesn't mean I like it more than Rick Wakeman's later contributions) and it compliments this record well. Chris Squire's bass play is excellent. This record ages well. Yours is No Disgrace, Starship Trooper, I've Seen All Good People and Perpetual Change are timeless classics. It borders on a five star recording.
