4 stars This is an highly underrated album. The first side of Meddle, the second of Atom Heart Mother and the whole of Obscured by Clouds just can't compete. Here you get a good range of styles like the Bucolic (Cirrus Minor), Hard Rock (The Nile Song, Ibiza Bar), Modern Jazz (Up the Khyber), Pop tunes (first of all Cymbeline) and atmospheric keyboard journeys (Main Theme; Quicksilver). There are a few fillers (e.g. Spanish Piece) but don't let that hamper the over all good impression: this is PF at their most volatile and suprising to date (almost 40 years after the release). If people say this is an un-Floyd-ian record I simply don't understand them. It's all here in a nutshell. A very good album indeed - 4 stars
