BAALSTORM, SING OMEGA

The third part of the trilogy that began with Black Ships Ate the Sky and continued through Aleph at Hallucinatory Mountain returns to neofolk after the second album's diversion into psychedelic rock, but it's a rather different flavour of folk this time around, possibly because of the absence of Michael Cashmore who had been such a major presence from the early 1990s onwards in Current 93's folk-oriented works. A little more threadbare, a little more countrified, a little more keen on gentle harmony, pieces like Tanks of Flies in particular could pass as indie folk in the Iron and Wine sort of vein. An interesting stylistic shift.
