2 stars Couple of Gems, but otherwise mediocre.

This albums starts off really great with first a cool introductory instrumental (Castellorizon), and the the title track. Unfortunately, the title track is the high point of the album, after which for the most part you just end up wishing to get back to that first tune. I have listened to this many times, and most of the other tunes lose interest after just a couple of listens. Some OK songs include "The Blue" (continuing with the blue themes of his other solo albums), and the closer "Where We Start". But I don't think even those two live up to their potential. By now the only tunes I bother with are the title track, and "Smile", which is a very nice song worthy of Gilmour's legacy. So, with only two really good songs, and the rest all quite mediocre, I can't give this more than 2 PA stars. I give this album 4.8 out of 10 on my 10-point scale, which translates to 2 stars. Really, other than those two tunes, this album is for fans only.
