Now THIS is an underrated recording!

The opening track is worth the price of this one alone. The rest of the record isn't too shabby, and displays perhaps the pinnacle of Davis' fusion experiments and lineups. Similar to Bitches Brew in its approach and production, On The Corner is serious fusion for serious fusion fans.

Percussion and rhythm are the name of the game here. There's no pause for the slow and weak. The bass holds down a steady riff while the world instruments dance and weave through, between, and behind the drums. With so much going on, it really does represent New York City on an average day. Miles was the master of capturing aesthetic in sound.

He started on Bitches Brew, and continues that here on On The Corner.

The production techniques used are top notch.

Must-listen recording for any jazz fusion enthusiast!
