Tonbridge Man
3 stars On the 40th anniversary of its release I thought this mid period effort by BJH was worth revisiting. At the time it was well received by their fans and indeed I quite enjoyed listening to its melodic tones at a time when Punk Rock was in its harshest and most iconoclastic phase. For me though it now lacks depth in 2017's harsh light and many of the songs while pretty with first rate vocals and harmonies (Les Holroyd's Hard Hearted Woman being a good example) are in truth not the fare of prog fans. Poor Man's Moody Blues finds John Lees at his most mawkish but his Hymn remains the standout track. If you have never listened to BJH look to any of their albums released before this one for more satisfying fare.
