3 stars "FIRST REVIEW OF THIS ALBUM"

Millenium is a prolific Polish five piece band that has released 12 albums between 1999 and 2017 and two live DVD's, in 2010 and 2016, this review is about their first one. In order to promote their new album Exist (2008) the band went on tour in 2009 and then released a double live CD and this live DVD in 2010.

On Back After Years Live In Krakow you can witness the pleasure of the band members and their warm interaction with the crowd. The lights show is very beautiful, the sound is great and the camera shots are very well done. Fortunately not that '10 shots in 5 seconds' as so many live DVD's suffer from nowadays. Millenium is a tight unit, everyone knows his place and this matches with their song oriented musical attitude. Although their sound is modern, I also trace elements of early Pink Floyd, every now and then with the keyboards, especially in Embryo. And for sure with the guitar, often the focus is on his varied work, from moving to fiery and heavy (the distinctive wah-wah pedal). The keyboard player has an important role too, but more subdued with his tasteful colouring: from piano and a flute-Mellotron sound to fat synthesizer flights. The visual highlight on this DVD is the song Madman in which the singer adds an extra dimension by wearing a strait jacket, referring to the title. Another highlight is the final composition My Life Domino featuring a spectacular lightshow and lots of dynamics. The Extra section contains a video with a studio recording of 7 Years and a docu entitled Millenium About Myself that contains pictures and the band members talk about themselves in Polish, unfortunately not translated.

This music is a joy for lovers of neo-prog and modern progrock.

My rating: 3,5 star.
