LUXADE

Well, first off, I want to thank Andrea for helping me appreciate this album even more with his wonderful review. And second, I have to mostly agree with the other reviewers here.

My only caveat on this album and band is that they definitely work from the 70's Italian prog rock rule book. But to me, this is not a bad thing. In fact, it is a wonderful thing, and on this album they hit it perfectly. So, no, this isn't quite a masterpiece, because it lacks some originality. But I think they have managed to sound like a previously unknown 70's Italian prog band, rather than a 21st century band that is derivative of those bands. Certainly you can hear echoes of Museo, PFM, RDM, and even Banco. But this is so well done, you probably will just consider this a plus, like I do. In any case, this is a fantastic album, and one of my favorites from 2006. My favorites are Nuova Luce and Enciclica 1168, but really there is not a bad song on here. If you like 70's Italian prog, and want to hear something new in that vein, this is the album for you.

I was not as impressed with their previous album, but was hopeful for this due to the reviews here and elsewhere that I had read. I was not disappointed, as this is a huge improvement over the previous album (which is actually pretty good, just not as moving and well done as this one). The vocalist may put some people off, and I find that even I wish he would vary his approach a bit more. But that is a minor complaint and does not really detract from the music, and generally I think he sings quite well. All the other musicians are excellent. Just get the album, you won't regret it :-)
