3 stars The impression that the listener receives for the music of Frisell might be in the feeling of a few humours. The style might be in the point to have exceeded the genre consistently. It is how to make the peculiar sound as the charm of his music character. Or, the sound processed enough by the effect is expressed. Or, the point that it doesn't make a mistake in the picking so much. Those elements might be connected with his style together. A few humours' coexisting with a serious part in the music character that he creates passes the work and the listener will be able to discover it.

Frisell received the degree of the arrangement and the composition in the age of the Berklee university. And, the prize of the guitar has been acquired in 1977 the year. And, also in Denver and Boston, he was acting as a standpoint that gave lessons in music personally. It is guessed to him that there were a considerable technology and knowledge for music even if it considers it from this respect. The interest of the point to have developed the knowledge of the composition and the arrangement in addition to the improvement as the guitarist might be very deep.

To make the music character an embodiment, he chose the activity in Europe. He deepens the exchange with musicians in Europe while giving lessons in music in Belgium. It is guessed that his such creation and ambition were related to the work in ECM in the age as a result. And, the work that he announced with ECM might stick enough to the regionality where the music character and he stayed. And, the interest of the point that relates the idea that he cultivated in the United States to Europe and is demonstrated might be deep. Help of ECM of the fact that the expression done in the history of his music method was of course good each other might be also large.

Pat Metheny might rise if the music to feel nature that the United States is grand and beautiful is considered from expressionist's point. Of course, it is likely to be compared with the guitar players such as John Scofield and John Abercrombie. A certain kind of pastoral element is based on the unique method in the work that Metheny expressed with ECM in the environment and the character through Jazz. However, the performance to feel space in the performance with the anacatesthesia of Frisell will be able to discover the difference with other musicians obviously though there is a common item of some expressions as a performance that Frisell does. As for it, the work with various musicians is satisfactorily demonstrated.

Kenny Wheeler takes charge of the wind instrument to the musician who is participating in this album. And, Bob Stewart takes charge of Tuba. And, the Bass player is Jerome Harris. And, Paul Motian takes charge of the drum player. The performance of the musician who showed it here splendidly supports the creation of Frisell. The style of consistent Frisell and music have the anacatesthesia to feel space through the whole volume.

The line of the music of Frisell at this time develops from "In Line" to this album. And, one top in ECM is received in continuing "Lookout For Hope". In the history of his music, works that he left ECM might be a few greetings. The idea where the seriousness and humour are had both has succeeded to some degree and his activity is connected with New York and Seattle.
