4 stars An Epic Black Metal Album.

If you like extreme metal (especially black metal) i think you should give this one a try. Even it is not all the way conventional black metal it is extreme enough and builds an awesome epic atmosphere in each song. This album also integrates Blue-grass (Also known as American Folk) music and the result it's really good. The track "One Last Fire (The Long Road, Pt. I)" its blue grass all the way and it is a wonderfull rapid song that gives a good feeling to the album. The transition from this track to the next one its abrupt, and gives a satisfying sensation when it returns to the harsh black metal. All the music is really well performed, but i find the drums outstanding, with some powerfull blast-feelings that i really enjoy. Also the voice its awesome, harsh and expressive, just the way i like it. Even its not a progressive album, it has some progressive/ambiental passages and a progressive feeling in all the songs. The weakest track here is "Norwegian Nights" beign the most flat song in the album but its also a fine track in my opinion.

I would give this one an 8.5/9 but since it is not a progressive album in all the sense, 4 stars seems accurate.
