3 stars Jaco Pastorius left a very few solo studio albums as his legacy. But there are myriad of different live recordings (of very various quality). Biggest series were released by American Label Big World Music. This album is Vol.4, as all others there are few different live recordings from New York scene presented.

All compositions are played by trio (Jaco, great guitarist Hiram Bullock and few different drummers). So, each composition is played by power trio, and you will easily feel it. No overdubs or serious cutting, all album sound as bootleg recording just released without serious producing work on it.

Guitar sound varies from heavy metal shredding to jazzy, bass is very distorted. Compositions almost all are well-known, but in fact such a good material is used as some frame for improvs and jamming. Songs all are rough and bulky, if separate moments of musicianship are excellent.

In general, all recording is long uninspired session, recorded in whole, and by unknown reason released as album. Jaco fans will find there some material for them, but for regular listener this album is far from interesting.

Still 2,5.
