3 stars ELEGANT SIMPLICITY is a rather unknown band from north England, even though this is their ninth album. They are playing a mixture of beautiful romantic ballads and mostly instrumental straightforward progressive rock. The music is a mix between CAMEL, GENESIS, The MOODY BLUES, The ALAN PARSONS PROJECT, PENDRAGON and PINK FLOYD, and it's very dominated by keyboards.

This is a high quality prog CD with good musicians. You can hear many classic vintage instruments such as Hammond, Mellotron, Moog etc.., together with guest appearances on violin, clarinet, cello and French horn etc. Steve McCabe is a great guitar and keyboard player. Unfortunately the vocalist and drummer aren't that brilliant, and that goes for the production as well. Sometimes the music is to laid back for my ears.

Guitarist/keyboard player Steve McCabe are also responsible for the production and engineering as well as the cover design, artwork and layout for the CD.

There are some good tracks on this album: "Stars That Cry Your Name", "Reversal Of Time", "Spinning Through The Years" and "Like Shadows Again".

This is maybe something for many progressive rock fan, and I don't think it's a bad album, but I can live without it.
