4 stars Maybe my ear for audiophile sounds isn't up to snuff, I have an original vinyl pressing of this fantastic performance, I do not hear the dreadful sound that many have mentioned, certainly not as present and booming, as for example ,the The Camel vinyl I have had the pleasure of listening to, I don't thinks it's fair to punish the artist for lack of audio production, especially when many times during this time period at least, they have had no influence on it. I believe this is a solid 4 1/2 star album. The sound is not that bad, One classic rock album that comes to mind that always sounded thing and brittle was Led zeppelin 4 album, Even the latest remasters are thin and grainy in spots, Jimmy page's lead guitar sound thin and twangy. But the Performance is an all time great. To me vinyl always wins out for sonic detail, Pink Floyd and Yes in particular. That being said, A high end turntable is used, and I regularly clean my vinyl. Nektar was a band I just discovered a few years ago, and any of their first 5 albums are worth a spin.
