3 stars The Brazilian scene dishes up with a new band again.

I interviewed the band some days ago and was recommended this album. Their only album, in fact. Not much to choose from, then.

This is a 70 minutes long album and offers value for money. The music is really a mix of power and progressive metal. The metal fans will think it kicks ass. The prog fans will think it has some progressive elements. Even the power ballad fans, if there is still some of those out there, will also love the two power ballads here. In short; the music is standard power/ progressive metal.

The quality is not bad at all. I am by no means a fan of progressive metal and I am at a loss to explain the qualities of this music genre. But Hollowmind have some good guitar harmonies alongside the pretty standard prog metal they serves up. The album is pretty decent until the final two songs Days of Dying Peace and Fleeing Soul which is a cut above the rest of the material. I am tempted to guess that these two songs are their most recent songs before these fourteen songs were recorded and released as this album. Both songs has symphonic prog structures and is cleverly crafted.

This makes this a pretty good album well worth checking out. It is not setting the world alight, but it is still a good album.
