WEIRD

One thing that I like when I review Senmuth's albums is that he often gives me the opportunity to dig into his esotheric world. "Weird" derives from the Gaelic "Wyrd" that represents the druidic knowledge of the nature's elemental spirits but means also "doom" or "fate".

And because of this druidic origin, each track has a rune as title. One of them "URUZ" is recycled from "Internal Images" a precedent album but two minutes have been cut out respect to the first version.

DAGAZ literally means "Day" but it can be intended as "Transformation". The base of electronic drumming never changes, but the sounds above it change slightly with continuity. A short guitar solo at minute 4 is promising but it stops immediately. An ambient track less dark than usual.

RAIDO is the rune of the traveller. It means journey and can mean friendship. For Senmuth is an ambient track with a sort of mandolin or balalaika behind.

NAUTHIZ is the shadow, the dark side, troubles in general. I think the music reflects these concepts quite well. As for Internal Images, listening to this album knowing the meaning of the tracks adds it a value that otherwise is not perceived.

ISA is where the word ICE is from. It means cold, stagnation, freeze. This is a very nice track that I would define progressive electronic. A repetitive sequence of bells and percussions with some distorted accents. Against the rune's meaning it changes but slowly then returns to where it started like the change was just an illusion. This is a great track.

BERKAN represents the Goddess of fertility and motherly love.If I'm not wrong the name BJORK derives from this rune. Just another ambient track which features some good guitar parts.

URUZ, already mentioned, means Health and Strength. The initial chord with its harmonics are like before the start of a travel. A second part, where percussions are added reminds to the travel itself. A warrior running into a wood. The two situations come and go alternately.

KANO is a torch. the fire which represents life. A dark ambient track good for meditation, maybe.

PERTH is intended as secret, mystery, hidden knowledge. The music on this track has dark tones and heavy bass keyboard. I think it transmits the concept fairy well. I like Senmuth's guitar here.

EHWAZ means Horse (latin EQUUS). So it's referred to transportation and speed. One of the most ambient tracks.

Not at the level of the very good Internal (or Eternal, depending on the transliteration from Russian) Images, I think it's good enough for the third star.
