4 stars This is nothing like the more popular Sigur Rós releases, but that is not a bad thing. It is actually a stunning post-rock album, and is perfect for flying away on a cloud. It is the most mellow album that I have heard from them, and you may not recognize it as a Sigur Rós release. But it should not be ignored, and I find is as enjoyable as many of their other albums. Music is about creating a mood, and Valtari fits my nighttime mood perfectly. The album cover does justice to what you are getting, so relax and enjoy. The last track Fjögur píanó (Four Pianos) is just a delightful way to end an album with very sparse sounds. Less is more, and Valtari is art with less.
