5 stars Everything about this album is perfect. Contrary to Wish You Were Here, this album feels like PF is creating a narrative as an observer. It is less personal. This is the reason why I don't consider it to be their best album. But as we are talking about Pink Floyd, this still means I believe it is one of the best albums ever created.

The broad theme of the album is about human life and human behaviour. I especially adore the theme of the time passing on side 1. The 2nd side appears to be less coherent in theme, but musically and lyrically it is the best part of the album.

Speak to me is a great intro to the album with the heartbeat and the screams 9/10

Breathe (In The Air) is a great atmospheric little track that gets a little reprise in Time 9/10

On the run is a piece I've always liked. I feel the despair of someone being chased. It works for me 7/10

Time is brilliant, both in composition and in lyrics. 10/10

Great Gig In The Sky is something else. If you aren't moved by Clare Torry's vocals, you aren't listening. 10/10

Money is played to death. But it's a great track, everything fits. 9/10

Us And Them is another highlight. I think this is my favourite track on the album. Gilmour's vocals and his guitar playing are simply marvellous. As is the saxophone. 10/10

Any Colour You Like is Gilmour and Wright at their best. I consider this a great bridge between Us And Them and the end of the record. 9/10

Brain Damage Is raising the stakes, bringing us even closer to the culmination of the album. With a little foreshadowing to The Wall too. "You lock the door and throw away the key. There's someone in my head, but it's not me." 10/10

Eclipse is the perfect closer for the album. The lyrics sum it up nicely and at the end, we are back at the heartbeat. 10/10
