3 stars Further line up changes here but it must be emphasised that the previous album was not supposed to have been released under the Black Sabbath name - it was supposed to be an Iommi solo album. Tony Martin on vocal duties here is very good - it seemed that Sabbath was on the way back. Not better than but different to the previous album - this was Sabbath reclaiming their harder edge after the previous effort. The best tracks on here imo are "The Shining" and "Eternal Idol". Much of the rest is,aside from "Ancient Warrior", to me, throw away material that doesn't do much for me but I don't despise it either. This album rates three stars from me although it is a step in the right direction for Sabbath getting back on track.
