3 stars I wonder if the original bootleg version of this album inspired Frank Zappa to record the song Tengo Na Minchia Tanta, which appears on the CD version of "Uncle Meat", but was obviously recorded much later. The song itself is nowhere on this album.

The concert was a late 1970 recording with Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan. FZ fans will recognize a large portion of the album as earlier versions of the material on the "Fillmore East" album. The recording sounds like it was directly taped from the sound board, and as such, the quality is not bad.

The interesting material is A Pound For A Brown (On The Bus), with a guitar solo that hints at the Inca Roads guitar solo, which appears again later on the album paired with some early themes frpm Easy Meat. The groupie routines have some additional material added in, and Bwana Dik sounds much more like the original Lumpy Gravy theme from which it was derived.

Very little of this album is unique, but it's still a good concert, if you can take all of the penis references.

1 stars This is another bootleg that was later released by Frank Zappa as part of his official discography. It is also part of the Beat the Boots Collection II. If you already have the bootleg "Freaks and Mother[%*!#]ers" you will notice that there is some redundancy here. That's because both bootlegs are from the same show. Also, if you have the Italian bootleg "A Snail in My Nose", you basically have the same recording as this one with a different track listing (same songs, different names). The Beat the Boots II notes say that this was recorded in May of 1970 at Fillmore East NYC, but that date is incorrect. This performance was most likely in November, around the 14th, 1970 at either Fillmore East or West.

The sound quality is fair, the performance very similar to the official recording "Mothers at Fillmore East" but with some additional material and different instrumentals. The best thing about this album is "A Pound for a Brown (on the Bus)" It seems that the sound quality is also best on this song, but that's my opinion. Other than that, it's not really worth it to look for this one unless you are one of those that have the collection or if you are a completionist. Flo and Eddie are obnoxious as usual.
