4 stars Torabi is classified here as a crossover artist, but Hip to the Jag could just have easily been considered folk-prog or Indo-Prog. It has that world music feel with a Middle Eastern bent, though it is clearly in the Progressive tradition.

Likewise, a lot of it has the feeling of progressive folk, which I enjoy very much. Some instruments sound very acoustic, like harmoniums or accordions treated electronically, as on "You Broke My Fall" Really nice sounds.

Vocally, he is pleasantly nasal and reminds me a bit of Steve Hillage's singing style. His lyrics remind me of Hillage as well. Very groovy.

In some places there's a psychedelic aspect that reminds me of very early Pink Floyd. I guess this mix is what puts him in the Crossover camp. I like this album instantly. Well worth checking out.
