Under Byen biography
Under Byen were founded in 1995 by two Danish girls: Katrine STOCHHOLM and Henriette SENNENVALDT. Soon the lineup grew to include several musicians almost all classically trained. They created their own style of chamber rock by using cellos, violins and also a distorted jigsaw. The debut album was released in 1999 and has been followed by five more albums and some EPs. At the end of 1999 the band is officially still active, but the last official EPs has been published in 2013. The founder Kathrine Stochholm has left and the band is currently a quintet featuring the other founder Henriette SENNENVALDT, Sara SAXILD at Bass, Nils GROENDAHL at various strings, saw and guitars, Anders STOCHHOLM at various instruments, from percussion to accordion and Morten SVENSTRUP at Cello.
