Tusk biography
TUSK formed in the summer of 1998 in Chicago, Illinois. The band consists of 3/4ths of the Pelican members: Trevor de Brauw (guitar), Larry Herweg (drums), Laurent Lebec (guitar) and also included vocalist Jody Minnoch.

In 2001, TUSK released a split with HEWHOCORRUPTS. This split showcases some of the earliest work of both bands.

In March of 2002, they released their first full length album "Get Ready" which was also remastered and reissued in 2006 that included six live bonus tracks. The debut album contains nine relatively short tracks and feels more like a demo than a full length.

In 2004, they released their sophomore album "Tree of No Return" on Tortuga Records. This is a five track concept album that recounts a grim tale of a solitary drifter hopelessly stranded in a nightmarish hinterland.

In 2007, they released their third full length album "Resisting the Dreamer." With this release, Jody Minnoch was unable to contribute and the band features new co-vocalists Evan Patterson (YOUNG WIDOWS) and Toby Driver (KAYO DOT). To quote Hydra Records, "The two vocalists contributed their own lyrics in tandem and together weave a tale of regret, resentment, and descent in madness as the inner worlds of despair and guilt ravage the soul of the album's protagonist, who caves into their nightmarish inner world to ultimately taste "The Lewdness and Frenzy of Surrender."

WHY THIS BAND IS INCLUDED IN THE ARCHIVES:

TUSK combine noise, doom, space rock, stoner metal, helicopter grind, and have been described as artistic grind core. They are also experimental in nature using sitars, slide guitar, mandolin and swirling keyboards. With the release of "Resisting the Dreamer," the band seems to be moving away from the grind and concentrating on tortured compositions. They were approved by the Prog Metal Team and are highly recommended.
