Dresda biography
DRESDA is an Italian post rock band formed in Genova in 2005. The band owes its name to Vonnegut's novel Slaughterhouse-Five and has always been interested crossing the boundaries between music, word and image. Their discography consists of two music EPs, out if which the 33 minutes long Pequod stands out, and two actual film soundtracks, out of which "Il caso Krolevsky" is also available as an EP.

The musical approach of DRESDA is to first establish a vast sonic landscape with echoing percussion, slow piano or organ playing, sparse guitar notes and field recordings (that may also be film soundtrack samples). Crescendos and guitar explosions are rarely used, hence a very intense feeling when they do appear. The result is a very evocative music, in a cinematic way, which the band like to cal "frontier music" or "an accompaniment of your favourite character fading out in the fog". While experimental at heart, the approach of DRESDA never ventures into harschness and bleakness, the music remaining optimist and anchored in the idea that aesthetic beauty is redemptive.
