Taramis biography
TARAMIS, founded under the name PROWLER in 1982 in Victoria, Australia, is a progressive thrash metal band formed by guitarist Craig ROBERTSON, bassist Danny KOMORR, drummer Joe CORDINA, and vocalist Joel SOUTHBY that began by covering IRON MAIDEN tracks. Before long, the band found Mick CAWTHAN to be their second guitarist. By 1983 CAWTHAN left performing to join the management side of things and the band began to start playing ''real'' shows rather than the battle of the bands they were used to. Playing solely IRON MAIDEN and BLACK SABBATH songs did not go over well for the crowd, so the band was forced to stop and start writing their own music. In 1985 they debuted their original tracks at the Metal for Melbourne festival, donning plenty of furs in a very MANOWAR-esque style. Apparently not smitten with the direction the band was taking, CORDINA left the band. The band took time to find Dan BROWNE to replace him behind the kit. At this time, the band dedicated more time to writing and eventually recording their debut album. It was at this point the band decided to change their name to TARAMIS.

In 1988, the band finally released their debut album, ''Queen of Thieves''. The band extensively and successfully toured Australia, promoting the album quite a bit. During this time, KOMORR left, and the band quickly found Andy CAVEMAN to replace him. However, Andy didn't last long and Evan HARRIS was found to replace him. After a few shows with the new lineup, however, the main songwriter ROBERTSON announced he was leaving, which left the band hanging for a while. Through intense auditions, the band finally found George LARIN to the band. With a fresh new musical outlook, the band wrote and recorded ''Stretch of Imagination'', which was released in 1991. The band toured with SEPULTURA in support of the album, which drove them to new heights in publicity. However, after the tour, the band slowly dissolved as Joel moved to Sydney and the band members no longer had much time to play together.

The band will appeal to fans of gritty progressive thrash metal, such as WATCHTOWER, VOIVOD, early SIEGES EVEN, classic heavy metal bands such as IRON MAIDEN, and even fans of early progressive power metal like QUEENSRYCHE and FATES WARNING.
