For those who love blasting aliens in a good old-fashioned arcade shoot 'em up! Smile

What are your Top 10 favourite arcade games? Question

I'll start with GALAXIANS, which has always been one of my favourites. Thumbs Up

Play Galaxians online:- http://arcadespot.com/game/galaxian/

Current high score:- 16040 (Level 6) Geek

Remember, you score twice as many points for hitting an alien Charger (those that swoop down on you) as opposed to hitting an alien Convoy (which just move from side to side). Wink

I'll keep you all updated. Smile

Other than computer chess, Ihaven't played an arcade game since the 1982--and I don't think I can come up with ten, but, here goes:

ChessMaster
Missile Command
Centipede
Ms. Pac Man
Pong
Space Invaders
Pac Man

That's it! Those are the only arcade games (including computer games) I've ever played (and I mostly just watched).

I must have been living in an alternate reality--an alternate alternate reality!Embarrassed

Not bad but not the kind of music I'd want to rush out and buy, so Keep the Car Running because I'm heading home to listen to Karda Estra. Now that really IS my kind of music. Smile

I, too, had an Atari 2600, followed by Mattel Intellivision; about the same years you did. Prior to that I remember having a Coleco Telstar 6040 which had Pong (or something like it). Oddly enough, I never pursued any gaming systems after Intellivision, instead going the software route on PCs starting in the 1990s. During that later period I tended to play things like SimCity and Sid Meier's Civilization.

On the Atari I remember liking Asteroids and Super Breakout. I can't really remember the games I played on the Intellivision. I think one was Motocross, and there was another that was a track and field type game. That was a long time ago.

ASTEROIDS     An arcade game that's so addictive you could get haemorrhoids from spending too long sitting down zapping asteroids. Tongue

Play Asteroids online:- http://freeasteroids.org/

Arrow keys rotate left and right; Up arrow key for thrust; Space bar to fire.

Current high score:- 23960

MOON CRESTA

Hey space cadets! Here's another arcade favourite of mine, mainly due to Moon Cresta's unique docking procedure, where docking successfully with the next stage of the ship gives you twice as much firepower and where each docked stage of the ship represents one of the player's three lives. Cats have nine lives, but arcade players generally manage with just the three. Smile

Current high score: still working on it. Smile

MOON LANDER

Attention all budding lunar module pilots! Here's your chance to re-enact the historic Apollo 11 Moon landing in July 1969, and no matter whether you're cool, calm and collected like Neil Armstrong, or fiery-tempered like Buzz Aldrin, it takes nerves of steel to safely land the lunar module with only limited fuel remaining. Are you up for the challenge?

Use the arrow keys to rotate left and right and the forward arrow key to fire the thruster. Good luck! Thumbs Up

Play Moon Lander online:- http://www.moonlander.seb.ly/

Current high score: only 600 Embarrassed

I was really big into Ms. Pacman and also liked Frogger and a few others but I haven't played video games in decades.

I've never really grown out of playing video games. My 28-year-old Playstation is almost half my age now and  I've currently been going full throttle with Sports Superbike - although it's not nearly  so much fun when you come off your bike and another biker runs into you. Ouch! Ouch

From the arcade shoot-'em-ups I've featured here so far, Asteroids is by far the most addictive,  although it has the worst graphics, even by 1980's standards. Smile
