I gave it 3 stars which may be a disservice to the album. However, its not their best effort, & not a masterpiece by any means.

I would call it a masterpiece but abaddon's bolero is the one thing that holds the album back.

Trilogy, overall is much better than Tarkus, which only had one side that was great. Trilogy, overall isn't quite as good as the first side of Tarkus, which is an absolute Prog classic.
Trilogy overall is a 4 star album, not great, just very good.

Trilogy is a five star prog rock classic, no doubt about it, and it represents, I think, the best example of the ELP synergy working to its highest degree, something they lost as time went on.
When ELP were on fire, like they were on this lp, no one prog rocked better then they did.

9/10 = 4.5/5, Rounded off to five! Still arguably a masterpiece

think of Ravel's Bolero...
Abaddon is not very good constructed, but rudimentary elements of the original Bolero can be observed. |
Ravels is not original and Abaddons is not based on it at all. They are both "Bolero's" though which are of the same form. Check out Becks Bolero also.
