Putting the show together slowly this week. A lot of purchases arrived in the last few days, including 3 Umphrey's McGee albums, an Jan Hammer album recorded 1968 (in fact  a live recording now issued by Enja Records Japan, and not the MPS CD reissue, pre-Mahavishnu studio recording). Samples from the new album by one of the show favourites, Derek Trucks Band's .  Plus more blues flavoured recordings, only just spotted (very cheap) on Amazon.UK as part of the expanding "Complete Blue Horizon Sessions" series, here by Gordon Smith and Jellybread. I've only previously hear one tune by the relatively obscure Gordon Smith  - that tucked away of the Alexis Korner Memorial Concert CD set - but here is one LP and lots of outtakes, which indicates a Brit who usually stuck to the original 30's arrangements (hence you'll fiind a couple of Cream covers, but I guess in the manner done by the original artists). Jellybread were one of those largely  forgotten 2nd or 3rd ranking British blues bands, who's distinction (it seems from this compilation) was to sing blues rock with very English accents - which doesn't quite work more often than not.  I continue plundering Morglbl's Grotesk, as album of the month. And with my record/CD collection accessible once more some random raid on the obscurers parts of the archives.

But l've still not nailed down Scott McGill for a phone talk - apologies to Scott.

Abrupt reply resulting from a  track finishing  seconds later. Good evening. Working hard - how's the weather your end? Cool and damp, so a sharp chill when you cycle in it.
