I just added Penny Nichols, Michele O'Malley and Linda Perhacs to my Legends of Laurel Canyon artists index too. They're so good, I now get to feature and listen to them twice over. Thumbs Up

I've been big fan of Melanie since the 70's - I even used to have a poster of her on the wall of my room at uni. All she had was an acoustic guitar and that voice, but what a mighty fine racket she made!

But in the mean time I will definitely check out Penny Nichols - she sure looks like a classic late 60's hippie chick!

Another obscure find of mine is Elyse Weinberg, and in particular her debut album 'Elyse' from 1969. A year later she did make a follow-up album, with the assistance of Nils Lofgren and Neil Young, called 'Greasepaint Smile' but due to her record company going bust it didn't get released till 2015.


Here's 'Deed I Do' from the 1969 album.

Another relatively obscure one for you from my collection, who I think only made one album as so many aspiring singer songwriters did in that late 60's / early 70's period did, is Sally Eaton.


From her 1970 album 'Farewell American Tour' we have 'Flowers in the Air'.

In parallel with Susan Christie, you may also like Folk singer Linda Perhacs - not quite as obscure but hardly a household name, even in her own household. Linda recorded one amazing album in 1970 and then disappeared off the radar, seemingly forever, before making the most miraculous comeback since Lazarus over forty years later with two further tantalizing albums of Psych-Folk on the equally intriguing Asthmatic Kitty label. Smile

You've introduced me to the marvellous music of Michele O'Malley, so I'll return the favour by introducing you to this ultra-rare Psych-Folk album by Susan Christie. Only three copies of Paint a Lady were ever pressed and she gave those three copies away to her family.

We didn't even have a channel tunnel back in the 70's! - tho interestingly Krautrock and some Italian prog such as PFM, and clog prog band Focus did make it over here.

Aguaturbia are one of my more exciting discoveries of the past few years, along with Catherine Ribiero + Alpes. Both ladies have unique and mesmerising voices and vocal styles.

Well indeed yes - the likes of Chilean Prog, and even French prog never even reached our shores back in the day... thank goodness somebody invented the internet where we can share, compare and contrast our knowledge of whatever topic!
Yes, that was back in the day when French Prog was as remote and inaccessible as red hot Magma spewing from a volcano. Smile
