I haven't seen much Satanism in the non-Prog world.

When talking about the Rock Opera Jesus Christ Superstar, I find quite interesting the character of Judas Iscariot and especially the reason for why he betrayed Jesus. As far as I remember, there's no such an explanation in The Bible, except from, I'd say, it was predestinated for Jesus to become something like a martyr.

4 stars 1998: Dave Bainbridge & David Fitzgerald - The Eye of the Eagle - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-ZljhwWbD5Pl4RA_qpFXufmjLj_ImWg6

When Prog Folk is filmed inside a church and comes complete with a church organ, a celestial choir and a vicar in his ecclesiastical robes, that's when you know these guys are serious about their religion. Smile

That is an idea I can imagine better concerning the Jewish than the Christian God, and with the purpose to try the humans, but anyway, it's not like I'm very happy with God, even I much prefer the Christian one over the Jewish.

Agree.  By the way, I first heard it in Star Trek in the "Space Seed" episode with Khan.  It featured real Corinthian leather (oh, that dates me).

Haha! I love TOS (and The Wrath of Khan, of course).

"Paradise Lost is one of the books which the reader admires and lays down, and forgets to take up again. None ever wished it longer than it is. Its perusal is a duty rather than a pleasure."

Wovenhand's entire discography. Consider the Birds and Mosaic are my two favorite albums. It's basically all fire and brimstone, and darker than most "satanic bands". That's why I like it.

...Listen
Judgment will not be avoided by your unbelief
By your lack of fear
Nor by your prayers to any little idol here
He owns all those cattle
He owns all these hills
Forever round the throne yeah
Forever round the throne
Forever round the throne yeah
Crow eye come see
Crow eye come see
The lord will not be mocked
Not by you or me...

This song is about Jesus. As with many non-english 1970's bands that chose to sing in english, the lyrics are pretty basic. But I just love it as a great, driving heavy prog song

When it comes to rock generally, Satan rules.

John Milton's Paradise Lost has been very inspirational.  And the Omen over the Ten Commandments for me.

When it comes to the "son of God", of course Jesus Christ Superstar is great, as is AD/BC: A Rock Opera.

Maybe we could do a Revelations: Christ vs. Antichrist in Music topic.

Thank you. I've seen people respond to my religion snark with preachy lessons all the time to the point I'm used to reacting that way.

Still, your account at GodBank may be overdrawn. But due to the holiday weekend, the system won't fully update till Monday.
