Nah, the guys use the cover excuse to rant about the music.

For example, if he had listened 21st Century Schizoid Man, probably would had understood the concept of the psychotic face in ITCOCK.

This "critics" talk about the Paul Whitehead cover of Nursery Cryme and talk about the "pun" of the title...I'm 100% sure they never heard The Musical Box (Little Henry is beheaded by Little Cynthia), so they are not able to understand why the heads in the field.

This is the problem when ignorants talk about what they don't understand, but even worst when they don't want to understand and not even take the time of listening the music before opening their mouths.

But they got what they wanted, several more ignorants replied trying describe Prog without knowing a fuc*ing word about it, one even said music for nerds, while other made a political essay about Prog and Communism. Confused

Only one answered with intelligence saying that if anyone of us went to Antartica to listen Prog in the middle of nowhere, he would find two idiots criticizing it.

Of course there are ridiculous covers in Prog and any genre, but I hardly agree with any of the list.

Try for example:

Now, that's cheesy, but they don't mention it because they want to attack Prog, and most Progheads will agree this cover is ridiculous, they want a Proghead with an angru reply ro sell more, but I won't give them that pleasure, I don't even care about what they say..

Also because many cheap albums of pseudo artists (the ones who pay the salaries of this guys with propaganda), have similar covers to Love Beach...Of course they don't bite the hand that feeds them.

I think it's a simple case of fondness for the music being carried over to the cover art. Kinda like when your to die for beautiful girlfriend is a complete bitch, yet everyone but you can see that.

Obviously the bloke is blind, and only pulled some of them from a hat. Surprise surprise ELP and KC are among the worst....get a life. There are far worse than those albums (Tarkus and ITCOTCK). If, as some  think Kate Bush is prog, The Kick Inside is bloody awful....and there are more. Tormato has to be one of the worst ever album covers.

I would have loved to see some of our Finnish bands mentioned, for example Wigwam with Being especially the extended back cover which I can't find a picture of, and then Haikara's debut album under the name Haikara too:

I know that this is going to tick some or all people off here but, isn`t prog itself ridiculous ? I`ve been listening to progrock since I was a kid back in the early seventies and ever since I`ve  had to put up with ribbing from everyone from my friends at high school to my wife`s classical musician friends.
Nonetheless, the one on the guy`s list I really have to disagree with is the Script For A Jester`s Tear cover. All the Fish era covers in my opinion are great.

I know this is only related tangentially, but has anyone seen the Pink Floyd album cover for Relics, with the weird, voodoo-like head with double eyes?

That one freaks me out seriously, even today.

Also, by poking fun at ITCOTCK, they have crossed a line that they can never retreat from.
Thank you, God of Rock, for this chance to kick ass

The Camel one is my favorite. LOL

And Tarkus is really horrible. But Nursersy Cryme and In the Court... probably don't belong on there at all.

You're joking, right? I've always felt BROADSWORD was when the band went over the top and adopted the style of a third-rate Metal band...

Nope. Love it.

How exactly is the 'De-Loused' cover bad? I enjoy that cover very much. Same goes for the 'Script' artwork. Ouch

A unique atmosphere - that's precisely what it is. And the same goes for Foxtrot: conventional beauty wasn't intended, but the mood is dreamlike.

Again, it's all about personal "tastes"....

Fun discussion though!

You're right about taste, I love Earthbound's cover (none more black!).

Well, I agree with most everything in the article. Even the covers I love are, of course, totally ridiculous. Yeah, of course, deeper meanings and such abound, but that is besides the point. Naked dude walking on a brain is ridiculous regardless of the psychological interpretation. You aren't a progger, and you walk past it in  music store, what do you think, seriously?

People need to lighten up. This guy isn't a prog hater, he actually knows the albums, as you should be able to pick up reading the article...

I think they could have done a better job, there are far more ridiculous prog album covers to be found (altough Tormato is a good choice), for instance Hinten from Guru Guru. What do you think?

I love the cover art for Broadsword and the Beast and Leftoverture, so while I don't agree with the reviewer's assessment of each, I do understand why he would dump on them.
