A Baktun is a period of 144000 days (about 394 years, 8 months and 28 days). The Long Count is one of the three Mayan calendars (the others are the Tzolkin cycle of 260 days, used for religious purposes, and the Haab cycle of 365 days; combined they make up a cycle of c. 52 years). The Long Count does not know years or months. From right to left, the digits indicates single days, Uinals (periods of 20 days), Tuns (periods of 18 Uinals), Katuns (periods of 20 Tuns) and Baktuns (periods of 20 Katuns).
