Van der Graaf Generator - The Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other - This is my first time listening to this one. As far as initial impressions, I can't say that it's totally won my love over, but there are some nice points to it. In fact, along with H To He, I'd probably consider this to be one of their strongest ones; the first two tracks don't do much for me, but from White Hammer on, this is a solid jazz-fused prog record. Hamill's voice is nice and refined, never too overbearing like it can get on their later releases. The more sax-dominated, jazzier sections (eg. Robert) are very tastefully done, and Out of My Book is quite a pretty track. The above average guitar presence is also a nice touch. And the end of White Hammer has some real nards to it. Very intense section of music.

Dun - Eros - My second time listening to this, actually, as part of my recent initiative to expand my Zeuhl horizons. I've gotta say, it was a little dense to get through the first time, but now I'm really loving the grooves and solos. The rhythms are oddly bouncy, which gives a much lighter feel than a lot of the other Zeuhl I've heard, and I adore the flute lines throughout.

Andre Fertier's Clivage - Mixtus Orbis - Another first-time listen, this one probably comes in third tonight but is still a very good find. A short-but-sweet fusion of ethnic Eastern music with jazz. The way that the first side builds up is really incredible, and the jazzier leanings that open the second side are very nice.

Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention - Weasels Ripped My Flesh Woah! That's amazing! What a great album. "The Orange County Lumber Truck" is just such an unbelieveably good track. Again, not far from the Canterbury stuff that I like!
Sinoia Caves - Beyond the Black Rainbow OST

I was at my uncle's for thanksgiving this weekend, so I put on more or less all the classics in his record collection, plus a few of my own:

Friday:
Genesis - Foxtrot
Marshall Tucker Band - Where We All Belong
Joe Satriani - The Extremist

Saturday:
Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans

Sunday:
PFM - Storia Di Un Minuto
PFM - Per In Amico
Harmonium - Si On Avait Besoin d'Une Cinquieme Saison
Genesis - Nursery Cryme
King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King
Plus about 3000 wimpy neo albums that we had to sit through looking for good internet prog radio before just deciding to put PFM on

^^Great choices, José!

For me, it has been a very pleasant listening day.

Friendship Next Of Kin featuring Selwyn Lissack - Facets of the Univers This album is pretty straight-ahead free-jazz, similar to Anthony Braxton. It features a legendary Canterbury/jazz-fusion trumpeter Mongezi Feza. His solos are amazing here! Saxophone and piano are equally fantastic. Very enjoyable atmosphere throughout.

Frank Zappa - Hot Rats I have never investigated Frank Zappa's music all that closely, but hearing some of his material recently, I was motivated to go and discover his discography properly. And his music is very much up my alley! I can see how many of my favorite Canterburians and RIO-ers took cues from Zappa's records. Great music!

The Keith Tippett Group - Dedicated to You, But You Weren't Listening A very good follow-up to Tippett and Co.'s excellent debut, that is nearly good if not better. Much more jazz-rock than the debut which might as well have been released on ECM, by its style. Splendid album, love it.

Gentle Giant - The Power and Glory Sweet memories... This was one of my favorite albums when I started listening to prog intensively. It still is one of my favorite classics of the genre. The composition is out of this world, very intricate, careful. Man, love this one. "Proclamation" never ceases to move me.

Igor Wakhevitch - Logos (Rituel Sonore) This is my first Wakhevitch listen and I'm really surprised at the quality of this music. Although it's kept in a rather experimental ambient fashion a la the first two Tangerine Dream works, there is a strong hint of neo-classical influence, which gives Logos such a distinctive flavor! Magnificent!

Jump For Joy! - Bat Pullover So that's what Chris Cutler is into these days? I really like it. The music does recall a few bands like Henry Cow, Faust, and even Univers Zero to some extent, but it manages to stay fresh and innovative. I'm glad I downloaded this album from Ian.

Area - Arbeit Macht Frei How much I love this album! Along a few other works, this is the definition of what music I’m into. Area balance all of the elements that I am nuts about – free improv, intricate composition, jazzy moods, outstanding instrumentalism. What is there not to like?

Terje Rypdal – Whenever I Seem To Be Far Away Terje Rypdal is another recent discovery of mine. His style appeals to me and once again, it’s well balanced. A bit jazzy, a bit classical and very progressive in its own right. There is a local listing for this album on vinyl for a nice price and I think I might grab it.

Gong - Rejoice! I'm Dead
Sanhedrin - After Forever (Yes Michael, I played this one because of your post, I also checked for news but nothing seems to be happening right now with the band, I know they were looking for a fluitist about two years ago but I don't know what came out of it. I sure do hope this won't end up as their only album...)

How are you liking the new Gong album, Sagi? Smile I think it's splendid. Really reminds me of Continental Circus.
I'm not familiar with Continental Circus but Rejoice! is excellent! I think Daevid Allen had very little to do with this album and considering Kavus Torabi is involved the album actually sounds more of a Knifeworld album than a Gong album. But either way this mixture of bands gave birth to a great album!

Thank you, Jim.
This weekend has been so great to me thus far. Really enjoying the time off and I'm getting about 7 albums in each day. My kind of heaven. ;)
So yeah, UP! What a classic. This is my favourite PG album and Signal to Noise gets me every time. It's a real powerhouse of a track and arguably the best one of the album. Also, I'm probably gonna by that Growing up concert on blu-ray no less sometime soon. Oh and check out PG's new single 'The Vail' on his YouTube page. Sounds like it can fit on the UP album nicely. :)

A couple more sonic treasures.

The Book of Eli (motion picture soundtrack by Cliff Martinez. )
Pallas-- Beat The Drum ( this one is a tad under appreciated. A real gem. )
Black Sabbath-- Technical Ecstasy. ( I don't know why so many are hard on this one. )

Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣
