Topic: Deep purple or Rainbow Posted: March 09 2008 at 07:22 |
Think I'll go with Rainbow here actually. Two bands I don't particularly like, though.

Although I think Rainbow, Whitesnake, Gillan, Captain Beyond and Warhorse are all great bands. Deep Purple remain the flagship so they are the best
1Deep Purple
2 Gillan
3 Rainbow
4 Whitesnake
5 Captain Beyond
6 Warhorse

I'll take Captain Beyond...their self titled first album is one of the best albums I have ever heard. Dancing madly backwards on a sea of air\:D/..I like both bands equally.

Love both, but Deep Purple's MkII lineup is really hard to beat!

Deep Purple by a long shot, Rainbow always sounded like a tribute band to me.

Not a big fan of the whole classic rock proggy thing, but I'll go with rainbow for puling off the sythesizer. J Lord is a better keyboardist, but failed at synthing.

The first three Rainbow studio albums are big favourites of mine, especially the mighty Rising. However, in my book very little can touch Deep Purple, in most of their incarnations.

Deep Purple, by virtue of having produced four good studio albums to Rainbow's three.

How soon you forget..... "Frampton comes alive!" I went with DP. Great live act.

Although Rainbow is far from being a inferior band it's Deep Purple for me!

I saw the PURPLE in concert (my first concert!). But love in the greater manner RAINBOW with Dio and Powell!

Unfortunately, Rainbow was hardly more then a 3-album band, their works after 1978 are hardly remarkable.
So Deep Purple.
