I think that Yes is a great band eventhough they had some various line-up changes in the past. I really like Fragile, some of their most interesting songs I've heard. Heck, I even liked the line-up that included The Buggles!

ABWH also did some songs I really like a lot.

Asia's music hasn't aged as well (possibly because so many people were copying what they were doing) but if you were listening to the radio back when Asia started, you should remember how exciting and fresh Asia was for their first two albums. Just about every track on Asia got airplay.
You didn't mention ABWH, which has also aged poorly, but back when it was released that album was quite a comfort to us fans because it gave us hope that Yes would someday go back to doing prog.
As for the Rabin era Yes.... Well, I quite like the second side of 90125 and about half of Big Generator is very likeable. Union is uneven, but I probably put that one on more than the other two and just skip around. Talk has never really captured my imagination.
I think on most days I'd take Asia or ABWH over YesWest.

Dilemna? What dilemna? Yes has handled similar situations in the past.

The Yes line-up, unquestionably. The original Asia line-up didn't even make it halfway through the decade. Not that the material they were coming up with was particularly interesting. Lots of filler-quality stuff on their three albums.

What about the 80's? Who do you like better, Rabin line-up Yes, or Asia (original lineup)? For my part, I guess I would go with Yes, because the songs that I like from this line-up, I like better than the ones that I like from Asia; even the pop songs, like Owner of a Lonely Heart I like better than Asia's Only Time will Tell and Heat of the Moment. Not to mention Rabin's Yes released Endless Dream. (However, in the latest Asia album, the song Parallel Worlds - Vortex - Deya is very good too).

Ask Jobson about Yes doing the right thing.
![]() Honestly, I think they both realize that they are replacements and would be in a precarious situation should an original member decide to come back. With the Wakemans, I don't see this being a problem. If Rick comes back, it would probably be in a guest role, which I think we would all welcome. If Anderson comes back, Benoit will be screwed over. I'm sure he already knows this, however.

I've read that Anderson wanted (or wants) to keep on working with Yes and go to the Studio. However, I also understand it wouldn't be right to get Benoit and Oliver for the tour, and them dump them so they can record and album with Anderson and Rick, and then take them back for touring again, etc. I guess it's a bit of a dilemma. Yes, I know, I for myself consider ABWH as Yes. Still, this new line-up contains Squire, Howe, White, so it must be Yes. |

Yep, old news. It's amazing how bitter Elias is. My favorite part is when he admits that Duran Duran couldn't play their instruments.
Guys like Jobson, Moraz, and Khoroshev have had more reason to complain against Yes and have yet been generally classier., (Although Moraz sure didn't take the high road when he left the Moodies.) Edited by ghost_of_morphy - November 23 2009 at 21:35 |

That ABWH was not named Yes is purely a matter of legal delineation.

I fully approve of Benoit if Anderson doesn't want to show up.
As for Oliver, I want his dad to at least guest on the album as well. Ideally, they'd split duties.

I just got Wakeman's 6 wives live. It was really cool to see the show again, though I must say I liked the narration better on the first night. The recording is very good.

This is probably very old news, but here's a very interesting Jonathan Elias interview concerning Union: http://www.bondegezou.co.uk/iv/jeinterview.htm I'm not surprised anymore of how the album turned out.

I thought the new versions (and the unreleased tracks) were all fantastic, although I think I prefer the smaller sound of the original album in all honesty. |

So, which did you like better, the original 6 wives or the new orchestrated version? I'm not sure the orchestrations always worked so well (some of them are a bit annoying), but the choirs are phenomenal. I guess I miss Squire's bass on Catherine of Aragon, and White's drumming on Anne of Cleves. But there's a really beautiful orchestral and piano addition almost at the beginning (at about 2 or 3 minutes) of Jane Seymour that I really love. |
