Oh, Graham Coxon released a good album last year, Happiness in Magazines. I recommend it to everyone that likes Blur and didn't check it yet...

I must say that I also agree with with most of your musical tastes. Although, I have to disagree on this one. I really like Blur because they know how to make good pop music, and how to create experimental pieces being pop. Also, things like "You're So Great" are great to hear some after heavier stuff...

Think Thank and 13 are experimental albums, in some degree. To me, a pop band doing experimental stuff is the GLORY. They evolved. They gave a f**k you to many fans of their hits. This is a thing that I admire.

Besides Blur and Suede, these are the bands that I REALLY like on the genre (as I said on another topic. I like other bands, but these are the ones I... love ). Pulp is wonderful because Jarvis Cocker is crazy. I like crazy people. So I like Pulp.

Btw, my favorite 'pop' band is Primal Scream. What do y'all think about 'em?

Blur have made many excellent tracks, each TOTALLY different IMHO

The only bands of substance in that scene were The Verve (who almost became the new Led Zeppelin) and Pulp, although I like them mainly for Jarvis Cocker's brilliantly written lyrics.

Yeah, they could keep on doing the same sound of parklife forever, but they changed their direction. This is surely a thing that I respect.

They wrote some good songs, and their lyrics were funny - that's what I recall spontaneously.

But in retrospect they weren't a brilliant band IMO, and surely neither prog nor prog related. Gorillaz is nice, but also too much focussed on popularity and "compatibility" for my taste.

I really like The Electric Soft Parade ... cool Brit Rock in a really wide sense, I could even imagine adding them to the archives as prog related. They're very avant-garde.

To me, with the exception of The Verve, no other BritPop band ever got close to it on the 90's (this if you don't count Radiohead as such). The band did what many bands can't do: Evolved. Changed their sound. What do y'all think about the band?
