I think you meant Mick Pointer... and yeah, sounds like something MO might have done

Portnoy fat more diverse and interesting than Carey's polyrythms.... But its subjective... as always

I remember when MO almost convinced some guys that Nick Mason was better then V. Donati...

Hey, it's infinitely better than anything I might have drawn.

Progmaniaczka: Well, I'm sure they are "równi goście" in real life, but what can I do, I just don't like their singing.

I noticed you hadn't mentioned Adam Łassa, are we in agreement on his voice?

The present day Quidam does resemble PT, I like them, but I definitely prefer the original and liked the Emila Derkowska version of Quidam more.

I hope I won't sound preachy here  - Petrucci's fast, but it's not his speed that makes the fast parts so wicked - it's his imagination. He's a very intelligent player, maybe not of the same caliber as, say, Steve Vai, but not far off. He really knows how to follow the note he's playing right now, harmonizes with the band ideally and can create hauntingly beautiful melodies out of a few basic sounds. There are plenty of faster guitarists - Michael Romeo, George Bellas, Yngwie Malmsteen, Michael Angelo Batio, Rusty Cooley, Francesco Fareri, Theodore Ziras, Marcus Paus, Stephan Forte, Chris Impellitteri etc. etc. etc. , but they all lack Petrucci's imagination. Their fast parts, although faster, don't sound as awesome as his (Michael Romeo might be the only exception).

But I'm sure you already know that, and that I'm just talking to myself as always.

Ed: I'm not saying Portnoy isn't good, I'm only saying Carey's better.

As for LaBrie and Keenan... I stand by my opinion of Keenan being the much better singer. LaBrie can really go against the sound of DT and can be really annoying. If only he didn't squeak and didn't pour sugar and whipped cream on all of the more lyrical parts... Just listen to "Solitary Shell", he can sing in a very pleasant way, he only needs to show some restraint!

Yup, Budokan is awesome... I've bought SLS today! Now I can fully enjoy it! And so far its totally awesome!!!

Carey>Portnoy

Keenan>>>LaBrie

Jones<Petrucci (Jones is still good, though)

Logan, Chancellor > Myung (more interesting > awesome technique)

Now don't go that far with Portnoy and Carey! I also thinks that LaBrie & Keenan are equal!

Manunkind:

You've said, that You can't stand Polish neo prog singers.. hm.. The only thing I can response, is that to me, Robert Amirian and Bartek Kossowicz are 'równi go¶cie' when talking about timbre of their voice, not to mention their style of singing..

SureVival ....
I do understand, that You can feel little aversion to this record, cause it's very succesful attempt of... emulating Porcupine Tree music. This is the main reason why I prefer Quidam with Emilia Derkowska, cello and flutes.. How about You? Have You heard previous Quidam?

Wolf:

Sorry for not living up to Your expectations , to tell You the truth I don't have my photo on my comp :(.

But, but but! , Pablo has painted sweet illustrtion of mine , hmm or maybe something like how he thinks I look like

Ed:

Yes, Budokan is a kind of masterpiece, and the only mere thought of Petrucci playing his guitar with stunning speed, rises the pure rapture on my face ...

I have also SLS (Riverside), but so far, I like 'Out of myself' most. Maybe I need some time to get accustomed to it , And You?

Pablo:

Brawo!
