Let's hope you still feel like being civil after Tuesday,Guigo. Whilst England did not play well at least we got one out the way and 3 points. I reckon you and Erik will be doing a fair bit of nail-biting soon... ![]() I'm still puzzled by Germany's performance, was it tactics or disrespect? If they play that kind of attacking game all through the tournament then every credit. |

Argentina is a strong blend of bandits (Ayala, Heintze) and artists (Saviola, Riguelme), they showed their deadly efficiency, poor Ivory Coast that excited me way more than Argentina.

This World Cup thread has been my cup of tea (is it a pun?) presently here in PA. Who needs those terrible TV commentators when you have buddies from all over the world to share opinions. Thank you guys! (only hoping that the civil behavior lasts till the end

Great performance by the Ivorians against the mighty Argentinians, only just failing to achieve the "shock" 2-2 draw I predicted for them.
Although naive at times they play with real zip and pep, something sadly missing from the England performance. Argentina,I guess were a little surprised by the Ivory Coast's will to keep attacking but were great to watch.Riquelme and Saviola were true artists but the man-of-the-match for me was the incomparable Ayala in defence. He as much as anyone contributed to the 2-0 lead at half time with his indomitable will to win,at times single-handedly keeping the Ivorians at bay. Great game of football! ![]() Edited by Tony R - June 10 2006 at 17:02 |

But the point is that it would still have been arrogance, even if Sweden had won 10-0 - it's just a basic lack of respect for the opposition........

I dont think that arrogance had anything to do with it. It hate to say it but T&T were very lucky. Now the match against England will be crucially, hopefully a draw will suffice because we all know that they can't beat us..![]() |

Let's not get over-excited. With a little more luck,Sweden could have romped this game. I'm not taking anything away from a marvellously committed Trinidad team, but thewy are here to make up the numbers. |

Before the Sweden-T&T game, the ITV mob were saying, could be 4-0, maybe even 6-0; that who headed the group would probably be decided by who scored most against T&T..........Ho hum............the arrogance of European football, and especially English football, still astonishes me.......

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO-SWEDEN 0-0 !!
A BIG HAND FOR DUTCH COACH DON LEO AND TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
![]() ![]() What an incredible performance by such a small Caribean island, playing most of the time with 10 men against players from Arsenal, Barcelona and Juventus. I am sure they will celebrate this in Latin-American style
