RUSH like Genesis should be removed. What is prog about anything they've done since 1980. They became a cheesy straight forward rock/synth band. Duran Duran were much better at it!

- Queen - I've always had dificulty with this band being in the PA;
- Iron Maiden - One of my favorite band, but out of place IMO;
- GTR - For obvious reasons...;
- Led Zeppelin - Is it really prog ? For me it's just plain old rock;
- Rainbow - Again, a bit out of place

I think that Genesis should be considered two different bands, ie. Genesis 69-77 and Genesis 80-present. The Genesis 80 -presesmt should be removed!

^ I can't agree with you on your first four options - they were not added as Prog, so nothing changed about what this site defines as Prog. The reactions, however, were indeed out of control - discrediting many members' capacity to understand and accept.

1. The Doors
2. Iron Maiden
3. Deep Purple
4. Led Zeppelin
5. Split Enz
This is a Prog site. The additions in the past year or so are WAAAY out of control.

interesting... I think you could say that is indeed what they
were. The focus was never the music.. but the lyrics... they
wrote songs to for mass consumption.. for the charts. Take
Jefferson Airplanes reaction when RCA wanted to to follow the success
of Surrealistic Pillow and it's radio hits... they recorded After
Bathing at Baxters hahahhahaha
Find me a radio hit on that . They (though not prog in my book) were artists not a damn pop group..

thin... very thin indeed hahhahh
they were too busy being known as a 'one man riot waiting to happen'
to have had any influence at all on what was to be
prog. That said...I love their stuff... Strange

last time I looked this was Prog Archives and they weren't even related..
or were they...
wasn't prog an effort to get AWAY from stuff like the Doors were
doing.. .or is THAT why they were included here. hahhahah..
I saw the logic I guess.. with Zeppelin... but still see no reason on
earth why the Doors are here. Oh well.... we fight them
were we can... and the chips fall where they fall I guess.

Thank you! What the f**k are Nightwish doing on this sight anyway? We do want people do take us somewhat seriously. |
Though in this case I agree, Nightwish is not too proggy, and Trans Siberian Orchestra is probably the best cheese factory outside of Switzerland. Actually, when I heard their work-over (musical murder) of Beethoven, it smelled like Rochefort...
(By the way, I was JOKING about King Crimson... my mind works in mysterious ways but I'm not ready for the straightjacket yet.... )

Actually, I don't care if I'm taken seriously. I would like to be taken out for supper though. La Cave A Pape on your tab, with just my family & 120 close friends. "Table D'Hote" SVP, & bring us your most bountiful wine oh tood sweet!

Didn't we agree at some point that there would be a lot more rest if we just removed The T?

I still insist that Green Jelly do not belong here. Their album Cereal Killer is an insult to all grain related food by products. P.S. Oh, & I'd get rid of all the subgenres & set up a more simple division - Prog , not-Prog. That way we could include non-prog bands in their own section without going through the trolling attacks as to why King Crimson are not prog, but Uriah Heep are.

You have not heard the soundtrack for "maximum Carnage", a marvel-comics videogame with music by that amazing band..... Green Jelly deserves a spot here... ......
