Just the name, just the name.

I don't think I've ever heard a note from the band.

They'd have to be better than their name.

I think that must be A.C., which is an abbreviation of "anal c**t".

Lynryd Skynryd comes to mind.

The Flaming Lips.

It's a Beautiful Day. (great band, though)

CCR. Just a stupid, stupid name.

And Hootie and the Blowfish was just too stupid for words, and so was their music. They had more than the alloted 15 minutes of fame. Good riddance. Hope you saved your money, fellas.

Slightly off topic, but I do recall falling about laughing when my mate, Chris, being a 15 year old who had just seen the Woodstock movie for the first time, announced that he was going to buy a "Country Fish & The Joe Boys" album. LOL

Duran Duran? (Wasn't 1 Duran enough?)LOL

I could probably name about 1000 different HipHop/Rap names that are extremely stupid but then I'd be wasting valuable keystrokes which could go towards better uses.Dead

Duran Duran are named after the angel in the movie "Barbarella" starring Jane Fonda. The actual spelling of the name is "Durand Durand" though, but the "d" is not pronounced, so probably the band thought that "Duran Duran" is the right spelling.

'Right Said Fred'  was an early 1960's song by Bernard Cribbins.

^^^ That's definitely one of the weirder names (and pronunciations) of a band that I've heard, but their music is so damn catchy and groovy...

Yep, good stuff indeed! Thumbs%20Up Probably the trend was then to give an impression how "far out" or "stoned" they are. Tongue

The Chocolate Watch Band appeared in a cult movie "Riot on Sunset Strip", which would be a fun film to see. Apparently it is not yet released on a DVD or even a VHS? There's a really brutal performance from them on that one, the tune is called "Sitting There Standing". The singer really sees things which other people don't! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iSP7ytIo_M Later they did two IMO quite sophisticated pscyhdelic albums with more imagination used, as that song is quite basic 60's R'n'B.

There are a number of Japanese punk bands with bizzare names such as Mr. Children, Bump of Chicken, and The Piss.

As for English speaking bands, Panic! At the Disco and Clap Your Hands say Yeah are the worst names

These names are pretty good, in my opinion. Panic! At the Disco's music, however, is completely lifeless and utterly boring. I haven't heard the Japanese bands.
