Listening to avant garde classics on public transport is quite the epitome of cool, methinks. Big%20smile

Much of my 80 GB ipod is filled with RIO/Avant/Zeuhl, and I usually have it set on to shuffle. This was the soundtrack to yesterday's commute into work (today I listened to National Health - Playtime start to finish) :

I've been meaning to get that, and your post reminded me of it, so I ordered it immediately.  LOL

Wayside, emusic, and other places are absolutely indebted to you, Pat. LOL

Elton Dean first!
Gary Windo second.

I'll get back to you on the others late.

Chris, I am so jealous of you!  I just found this.

Are you going in April?  I hope to see you there.

I wasn't serious anyway. LOL

Coltrane was amazing, however. He has to be one of my favorite saxophonists. However... since this is the RIO/Avant thread... what are your favorite (anyone can answer) RIO/Avant saxophonists?

Drummers are the best musicians anyway. Wink

Yeah, I know what you mean there. I never participated in school band or anything like that; I am a composer by myself, unless it's collaborating with my band members... even then, there's some sort of direction I sometimes want them to take. Depends though. In the end, I usually play music alone.

Definitely. If you do go through with this, you should take video of it! Big%20smile

LOL LOL  Make sure to choose a really shouty, Vander death-speechy one.  That would be hilarious.

Use "Stoah" from their debut. LOL

I'd probably have to do something from Wurdah Itah since there isn't exactly an excess of musicians wanting to participate.

Although, come to think of it, one of the kids I converted plays clarinet.

Yeah, probably. You could adapt some of the parts though, somehow. Clarinet would be a cool feature!

What's the most embarrassing travelling music experience you guys have had?

Haha, it's really hard for me too.

Most embarassing... not sure. Usually when I think I'm alone and I'm singing, especially to Magma or Koenji, and one of my family members pops in on me. EmbarrassedLOL

I think so too (obviously). I love cranking Koenjihyakkei on my headphones... makes me wonder if people next to me can hear it. No one's made any comments yet, so I think I'm safe. LOL

You just put me in mind of opening my Wayside parcel at work.  "Ooh, CDs," said my colleague.  "Anything I've heard of?"  I got part way through trying to think of a good way to describe Kultivator and then faltered and said, "Er, no." Embarrassed

Haha, yeah, I never bother mentioning music to most people. LOL

What's going to be the best is when my band's first album gets finished... a bunch of people I went to school with want to hear it. But I know their music taste. I'd love to see their reaction to some of it. LOL
