Fail.

It's only February and I'm almost certain Merriweather Post Pavilion is going to be one of my top 10 albums of this year.

If it's not #1 or maybe #2 depending on what comes out later in the year, you're probably a bad person.

Heh, I'm not as big on the 'hipster garbage' thing as you though, chances are my top 1 or 2 are going to be a post metal or experimental metal record.
Last year, I know Blue Lambency Downward was in my top 5 for the Collab voting anyway.

Harry, Are you familiar with the band The Butterfly Effect?  Probably not your cup of tea, but they are from your neck of the woods.  http://www.thebutterflyeffect.com.au/final-conversation-of-kings/music.php I'm just curious if they are any better known in Australia.

And it's a very confusing thing to say 'probably not your cup of tea' since my taste spans everything from technical progressive death metal to Jeff Buckley to things in between.

So they're not tearing up the charts down under.

I'm not sure if they would be considered "things in between" or not, but definitely more like Jeff Buckley than like technical progressive death metal.

I have no idea what is chart topping music or not.
I pay no attention to the music charts at all.

We don't even have a proper chart in the UK now.  It's done via MP3 sales and CD sales but we don't have a programme on television any more that shows the charts.

Nor do I my friend; nor do I.

But it is still pretty hard to avoid the news and various magazines, etc... that spout the "greatness" of the Britneys and Jonas Brothers of the world, even if it does make you want to hurl.

Somehow I do manage to avoid the news of pop stars.
I never listen to the radio, and all my music news comes from music sites, so I pretty much never get exposed to "what x pop star is doing today" type thing.

Err, that was actually Folly's description, if you had been following some of the threads elsewhere in the forum board.

Still have yet to hear Animal Collective, despite all the people who keep recommending them to me.

My Girls doesn't rock though.

It's repetitively boring and annoying.

I love that song. It's one of those songs that really reach the "I'm high" simulation effect.

RIP in bossa nova heaven.
