well, look at me: I majored in history and minored in philosophy without thinking about what job possibilities this left me. needless to say there weren't many opportunities for me.
so I finally wound up in a travel agency. since I had taken German in school I was offered to head a new branch the agency wanted to open in Cologne, Germany, and for personal reasons (having just been through a divorce and having just come out of the closet regarding my attraction to women) I thought a change of scene would do me good, so I grabbed that chance with both hands.
and now I am a restaurant owner and married to another woman, with 2 kids even. the ways of life are often very strange and unpredictable.
morale: sorry, I don't have any. but perhaps Uncle Albert has an advice for you:
"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."

I've seen some 'young' people (older than me though, haha) that go through these changes...young man's spirit grows tired of hating and analyzing and begins to accept things as they are.  And like Jean's quote, everything is a miracle.  Some people find meaning staying in school and some pack up and drive across the country...maybe they find something, maybe it's themselves.  Maybe they give up being a misanthropist because someone breaks down the crusty shell around this angry kid's heart.  I don't have much to offer as far as advice because I'm living in the same time and in the same generation.  I can't say that I share the same attitude toward human nature, but I'm no stranger to frustration and emptiness.  I'm just riding the storm out because I have faith that things will get better.  I think that most people try to find something to get them to that point when the storm passes and the sun comes out...women, Jesus, the bottle...that stuff can get you through or it can prevent you from it.  The thing is to find healthy, strengthening exercises to get involved in.  And you're the judge of that because you know what might be good for you and what will hurt.
