Glad to see people say Underwood is their favorite.

Without her, Zappa would have been...

Hi,

I find it hard to say that one album is better than another ... they all have something to get your attention and appreciation.

Of all things Zappa, the only one left in my book is the one that I think is the most important of them all from a visual perspective ... why? ... because he did visually what he had been doing musically for some time ... and most people are afraid to discuss it and enjoy it ... we're talking of course about that one movie that no one can make sense of or relate to ... like anyone else could any other album! It's the Godard of music with visuals. Godard just didn't know music, that's all!

Only slightly off topic...I only have Hot Rats, love the jazz-rock with a little structure (Peaches en Regalia) can appreciate the long jams because the musicians are good (but the jams are a little long for a studio album) and the joke songs don't do alot for me.

Which album next?
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

Don't like the jokes?.... Check The Grand Wazoo and Waka/Jawaka, both top-notch jazz rock albums with avant-leanings.

Though got to admit that's not my favorite "era" of Zappa, if you're not fond of his humour, the jazz-rock era is the "best you can get, have you guessed me yet?" (Wink part of Zomby Woof lyrics)

I'd say Waka Jawaka (even better musicians), but it's more impro than Hot Rats if you're into that. Along with Waka Jawaka from the same era: The Grand Wazoo (I'm not so fond of the burlesque things either)
and see if he's brought along a little bag for you, rant

I thing those things are great live, but like most jokes they're funny once. At the same time, I love Zappa's guitar tone on Willie the Pimp, and the fact that it was 69...wow.
