Prog or not, Kate Bush is amazing, period.  Let's see, other than Renaissance Wink, purely on the strength of First Utterance, Comus makes a strong case though it's a twin lead we're talking about.  And then, Spirogyra.  And that's it, I don't really care for Curved Air, Mostly Autumn Or Karnataka, either the singer or the music doesn't do much for me, as applicable.  How about Magma and Shub-Niggurath, though I don't know if I can call those operatic chants as female LEADs, if yes, then Magma wins the thread for me because their music is the strongest of all these bands I mentioned.  Clap  And for something from the metal side, how about The Gathering, strange to see only two mentions of this band.

^ totally brilliant singer - Therion seems to have incorporated a number of female vocalists over the years all of outstanding quality. These vocalists have included
 Sarah Jessica Deva (Cradle of Filth - tours with Therion);  Martina Astner Hornbacher; Karin Fjellander;
 Lori Lewis (Aesma Daeva), Katarina Lilja (Sobre Nocturne).

The female singer in Therion is incredible too! I just got hold of Therion's Sirius B and - I am astounded at how good she is.

Can't add to any of these lists as things are well covered imo, but I will say I'm mildly shocked at the low number of votes for Renaissance.

Of interest to folks in this thread, when I was searching google images for this shot of Haslam I came across this...


Available online for 9 bucks.  This mag has been around since the early 90s but I have to confess I've never read it.  Will probably have to do something about that.
