I went to see 9 in the theaters for a number of reasons:
Tim Burton's name was involved
The animation looked like a cool style
They had Coheed and Cambria in a preview for it (any movie with prog in the preview is worth a watch
![]() All I can say to you is to skip this movie at all costs. I would claim that it's "style without substance", but there's really not much style to comment on besides its overall Burtonesque "dark" feel. I was disappointed, to say the least.

The Invention of Lying - 6.25/10. It's a date movie/chick flick. Not as funny as I had hoped. It had it's moments. Predictable. But an enjoyable movie.

just caught Die Another Day on TV (and I thought Spy Who Loved Me was a bad Bond, ouch).. Halle Berry and the invisible car were bad enough but Pierce Brosnan surfing a tsunami caused by a giant sun deathray machine was about all I could take

Caught it yesterday and it was definately worth the price of admission. The only downside is that all the zombies looked alike. I liked how they related the plague to bad hamburgers. That had to make the people at PETA happy.

I enjoyed Zombieland.... funny enough and entertaining enough to keep my interest.
the weird thing is that they stopped the movie to attend to some guy that was unresponsive and passed out (with huge pupils- the EMT said). He WAS A ZOMBIE I TELL YOU!
they gave us free passes to another movie as a consolation. I am going to go see Pandorum.... Hey, it's free. what have I got to lose?

Paranormal activity. Cost: 11000 dollars. Scares: about 10 times more than any Saw sh*t. Well done little flick. Enjoy it in a movie theater with some company if possible, as it's much more entertaining when people are screaming alla round you. Like the Blair Witch Project, not really about anything, but a good effort.

Encounters at the End of the World had an annoying soundtrack, but was interesting. And I think Werner Herzog may be crazy. 8/10

I saw about half of 2010 today. I am not interested enough to find the first half. It is the sequel to 2001: A Space Odyssey, but it is pretty much different in every way.

Especially in terms of quality. It's like Godfather III compared to the first two.

I caught Law abiding Citizen this weekend. 5/10. Totally improbable story. I liked the way most of the people were dispatched.

Last King of Scotland -- too much of it was wildly implausible, and the point of any being able to be drawn into this web suffered because the main character was so unlikable and stupid, but still enjoyable. 8/10

Milk Surprisingly good, Penn turns in a bold performance and James Franco is excellent in an honest portrayal of San Francisco culture when it was still a wild town.

2012, one of the better disaster flicks out there. Amazing actors, great script, good animation, and a great storyline, it was great. A few dissappointments though, like things that you know are going to happen but they do not happen until a few minutes later, SPOILER
SPOILER
SPOILER
Killing off Woody Harrelson early on in the film. Still great though.

Primer -- WTF? I respect the effort from one man, but he really needed to work harder to make the first half of the movie interesting.
Blade Runner: The Final Cut -- I think it's hilarious that there's 5 different versions of this, but it was pretty good. It still had some moments that were as unpleasantly heavy handed as the book, but at least it made logical sense and didn't have any stupid empathy machines, unlike the book.

Grave of the Fireflies - 2/10
Not good at all. The only passable thing about this movie is that the backgrounds are okay. It's an animated movie about living in Japan during WWII. I watched this because I was told by many friends that it's an extremely depressing/sad movie and it's also quite good. I watched the dubbed version which has horrible voice acting. It isn't sad and it actually makes me hate Seita, the main protagonist for whom we are supposed to sympathize. I'd give this a 1/10 but I reserve that rating for real bottom of the barrel movies. |
