Here's what I find a little funny about this poll. Most (not all) people will probably view the authors "Fave" list and suggest a band that they think most closely resembles those bands. My suggestion would be to go 180deg in the other direction. Ok, maybe 90deg. For me the idea is to keep stretching the window of bands I like. And to do that you need to take risks. Have you ever listened to Harry Partch, Djam Karet, After Crying or Thomas Dolby? Each of these is a great opportunity to experience unique music but sound nothing like the bands you list.  After 40 years of listening to and acquiring all kinds of music, I still to this day find bands that I like that sound nothing like the bands that I like.

If you are a GENESIS fan then you should IMMEDIATELY check out CITIZEN CAIN's "Somewhere but Yesterday". It's the best genesis clone out there (and believe me, I've heard A LOT of G clones....). Another album you need to check out from your list is HAPPY THE MAN's "Crafty Hands". It's instrumental (moslty), highly complex and (to my ears) somewhat Gentle Giant influenced.

According to your list, Caravan could be most interesting for you ( to be honest, I don't know all names from your list). And The Nice is the second.

I see most people have recommended Caravan. For something slightly different I would go for Grobschnitt and Anyone's Daughter - both highly recommended listens.

I don't know all of these bands but my favorite from this list is of course: "The Nice" (first band of my favorite keyboardist - Keith Emerson). But I don't know if you'll like them becasue you didn'y mention ELP in your favorite bands list.

Refugee is The Nice after replacing Emerson with Moraz. Also very good band (sadly only one album).

Caravan - first three albums are fantastic.
Visible Wind - only last two albums have good old-school sound. Recommended.

Caravan, with no doubt. Fantastic group, superb music.
Besides, I strongly recommend Happy The Man - very intelligent instrumental music from 70's USA band; especially - their best (IMO) album 'Crafty Hands'.

Caravan can't go wrong. It gets my vote.
But I think you can also give Grobschnitt, Izz or Satellite a try..

Great list , my choose are: Happy the Man - Crafty hands - 1978, their second album, is brilliant, one of my fav albums ever, Rousseau - Retreat - 1983 and Square the circle - 1987, and for newer bands Izz any album.

GROBSCHNITT!!!  There are several on this list that I would recommend (particularly ANYONE'S DAUGHTER, IZZ, CARAVAN, HAPPY THE MAN, CITIZEN CAIN), but GROBSCHNITT successfully blends the styles of the bands you've mentioned, especially the symphonic melodies of YES and some of the spacey atmosphere of ELOY.  I think their best albums are "Rockpommel's Land" and "Solar Music Live."

Let me be the first to say Happy the Man, fantastic chill, mostly instrumental prog from the late 70's. And American, no less.

But if you haven't yet (for any of these), I think Spock's Beard, The Flower Kings, Transatlantic, Echolyn, Frost*, and Rocket Scientists would suit your tastes too. At least many of them. Great modern symphonic prog.
