This might be a bit hard if we widen it to how many LPs and cassettes you own. So I'm just going to say CDs. Im 27, and have been collecting compact discs for about 7 or 8 years. My entire collection is on Itunes, and it says I have 276 albums at present. This includes discs which are double disc sets. Might not seem like much to some of you guys, but I'm starting to run out of space to put them! Not to mention wallet space, when one of my many favourite artists produces a new record.

I don't really do the whole downloading thing the kids are into these days.

My uncle has more than 1000 CDs and countless other things on vinyl, most of both are prog.LOL
Hello, mirror. So glad to see you, my friend. It's been a while...

I'm not sure of the number of CDs, but the complete number of all my music releases (CDs, LPs, cassettes, video cassettes, DVDs and such) is 1580 at the moment. Here's the complete list: http://muusikoiden.net/levylista/selaa.php?list_id=4528&letter=*

I ran out of space years ago and about half of my collection is stashed away in the basement. It hurts but of course itīs the albums I listen to most seldom that ended up there. I donīt keep count anymore. I stopped about 10 years ago when I reached 1000. Letīs put it this way. Iīll never stop or be satisfied with what I got, but my wife says no no noLOL.

I had a big clear out a year ago and sold about 400 CDs on ebay.

I've got a few hundred cassettes in my loft - which I haven't got round to sorting out yet.

I used to have a vinyl LP collection of about 600 but sold most of them and gave the rest to charity (I had nothing to play them on - after my record player broke))

I now only collect CDs.  I've got a collection of around 900, about 300 of which are Prog albums - the rest are a mixture of jazz, classical and other types of rock music.

I have been buying music in one form or another (Vinyl, cassette and CD) since I was 15, which is 30 years now.

I prefer to buy CDs and upload them onto Itunes.  I have never paid (or ever will) for a music download from the internet.

I own just above 500 CDs now. I used to buy many CDs, but now I mostly download music from places like www.mp3panda.com, http://mp3city.com.ua/ and http://www.emusic.com/ or listen in Spotify. I am a very large consumer of music and buying everthing on CD would be strictly impossible for me economically at this point in time. However, I still buy some CDs if they are very cheap or impossible to find as legal downloads. I never download illegally.

I have several orders out right now actually: Casino - Casino, Red Jasper - Anagramary, Tempest - The Double-Cross, Mandalaband - Eye Of Wendor and the new one.

In the future, when I'm rich Tongue, I would like to buy many of the CDs that I now only have as mp3's, primarily the good ones or to complete my collection of certain bands.

No CD's and vinyl anymore - I've transferred everything to digital and always get MP3s now.  I used to have 1,000+ CDs and 500 albums on vinyl.  Changing to MP3 files certainly saves on storage space in the house and its easier to search for albums/tracks!  It also means that the music is available wherever I want it to be in the house, in the car or on my person.

Total collection is over 3,500 albums across a wide range of genres and still growing fast.

The collection is backed up on two hard discs and a further copy to 40 DVDs is stored at a friend's house just in case of a fire.  Can't be too careful!

1422.  I've had to seriously put the brakes on collecting.  I peaked at 132 in 2004.  This year its only been 34.  I'd encourage new collectors to start a spreadsheet log of your titles including date you got the title (which I didn't start doing until '99).  I never did catalog my LPs, which is unfortunate because my house flooded this year and most of those were on lower shelves.  My boss expressed interest in adopting those and is in the process of salvaging the discs.  We're running into titles that should have been on the top shelf as they are out of print and/or I didn't get CD versions yet.  If you look at the collage in my sig, everything from the shelf with the joystick and below was damaged.  About three shelves worth.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

For a few years I've kept log of my purchases per month, I'm sure this year was my best year ever with 239 albums bought (that's only the ones I've bought, I guess there's about a hundred that my girlfriend has gotten, perhaps next year I'll make a combined list), too bad I think I've lost the lists from previous years...

Over the last few months I've been converting my cassette collection to CDR's and donating the tapes to the Op Shop so those titles are now part of the CD collection (does that count??) I've been collecting music since I was about 12 (1970). In high school (early 70's) I had over 100 LP's, more than any of my friends could believe. Then I had them all stolen from the school when I was doing radio shows for the cafeteria music programs so I had to start all over again.

Current collection:

Titles on CD = 2915
Titles on LP = 1000 (approx).

I'm doing a major reno to my house in the spring which will include a media room (a family room, but not for the family LOL). I've dedicated one full wall (22' x 10' ) to store all my media, CD's, LP's, DVD's and Blue Rays. My biggest challenge is how much room to leave for expansion. My wife is not overly excited about the fact that I'm planning on acquiring even more, but what are you going to do? Music really is my only vice.
Thank you for supporting independently produced music

About 750 prog and prog related. Besides that about 250 mainly various artists, metal, pop and such and classical. So about 1000 in total. Also 200 vinyls and some 150 digital files of CD's I used to own.
I'm afraid the digital files will expand in the future.
After all, nothing beats an original CD or vinyl, right ? ...
A day without prog is a wasted day

At last count, I had 650 CD's. About 300 of which are prog. I've got around 400 vinyl albums, about 200 of which are prog (many also on CD, though)

I seem to be downloading more these days, as I'm running out of space in my tiny flat to keep piles of CD's..
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Unfortunately, I only started collecting CDs about a few months ago, so I only have between 50-60 CDs.  I hope that number grows exponentially in the next few years.

Around 3000, I guess. I have stopped counting. I am just making sure I do not buy any duplicates.

Just in case burglaries/fire/natural disaster, I always copies the CDs over to a couple of big external harddrives and store one of them in another house. The same goes with my birth certificate, family pictures and other pictures.

I probably have somewhere between 700-800 CD:s, 11 LP:s (5 of which are essential Genesis-albums). For the last two years I have been purchasing MP3 downloads until about three month ago when I finally went over to Spotify!

About 100CDs, 2000+ vinyls and no MP3s; not now, not ever.

(I really don't want to listen to something which sounds utterly s***e. CD is bad enough.)
