I never noticed how alike those album covers were. That is pretty cool.

They are exact opposites: the colors for the name of the band and the album title are inversed... and the shades covering the faces are on opposite sides...

I haven't listened to Symphony X for a few years now, but my iTunes randomizer did just select the Russell Allen song We Will Fly from his solo album Atomic Soul.

I'm not a huge fan of that particular style of singing, but to my ears Allen just about wipes the floor with LaBrie.

Where does Jorn Lande fall in that particular style of singing for you?

I like Jorn Lande much better, because of the bluesy, rugged tinge of his voice - he's been compared to David Coverdale after all, and Coverdale was one hell of a singer with Deep Purple and the earlier incarnations of Whitesnake. And I do like Ark's Burn the Sun quite a lot too.

I like Burn The Sun too, and I recommended a while back to Pablo, because his singing reminded me of David Coverdale.  Have you heard the two Russell Allen/Jorn Lande collaborations?  They're more fantasy power metal than prog, but they're still good if you don't mind that type of music.

Jorn Lande is perhaps the best bluesy power metal singer there ever has been. I love David Coverdale, but Jorn took that style, added in Dio, and then his own touches as well. Allen is growing on me, and I think is better than LaBrie, though LaBrie really has never been the same to me since he had throat problems in the mid-90's.

Of course the best pure power metal singer ever for me is Geoff Tate.

On a completely unrelated subject, I'm listening to...

Miriodor Parade album cover
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.
