Tommy Bolin is indeed a very impressive guitarist. I just finished up Quadrant 4, and his picking is fantastic on that track! I really love this album (though I like Total Eclipse a bit more). I'm thinking about getting some more Cobham... which album should I get next?

Well, I don't think Cobham ever matched Spectrum in terms of uniqueness, still he released some very worthy Jazz Fusion albums, Total Eclipse being one of them. Life & Times might be the best bet, Crosswinds is really good though it has some tranquil jazz tracks that you might not be fond of.
If I were you, I would seek other Jazz Fusion bands somewhat in the vein of Cobham, tell me what is exactly that you like from Cobham and I might give you some suggestions. Just if you want, of course.

From Cobham... well I absolutely love the crazy drumming and fantastic musicianship. What grabbed me the most, however, is the funky basslines and drum patterns. I just love the way the fast, energetic solos are placed on top of the funky rhythm section. That's what I liked about Herbie Hancock's Head Hunters as well, all though Billy Cobham's stuff has more energy and power. All in all, it was mostly the funky rhythm section combined with great solos that got me interested.
Oh BTW!!!! Me and my one friend Tim are playing our own version of Chameleon at the school talent show next week with me on keys!! Brian (The Block) was going to play sax, but he had some last-minute obligations. If I can get someone to videotape it, I'll post it on YouTube and give you the link!

^well, you can check these out and let me know what you think of them:
The last one has a bit of a Zappa-feel. I have already recommended you Blow by Blow by Jeff Beck, so sorry for the insistance haha. That Return to Forever song is from another album, my favorite one, it's not as Prog-sounding as Romantic Warrior but you might like it.

Alright Pablo, I'll give you my opinion of each of these...
Return To Forever - That song was awesome!! I've been meaning to check them out for a while now, but my record store only has compilations, so I've never gotten around to it. I'll check if my library has any... they have a VERY nice jazz section! Jeff Beck - I actually watched a very cool live performance from him about a week ago, coincidentally. This song was pretty good as well. Gong - I really like this song as well! The bells (or whatever that is) in the background adds a very nice effect.
My favorite was the Return To Forever, which is AWESOME. I will stop procrastinating, and check them out ASAP!

Haha, that's great to hear. Like I said, that song from RtF was from my favorite album by theirs and surely one of my favorite jazz rock albums ever, it's called 'Where Have I Known You Before' just in case you didn't know. You can read my review of it if you'd like to know a bit more of the album.
Beware that Return to Forever's first two albums are not jazz rock albums, they're lovely latin jazz ones.

That album has De Futura. De Futura is amazing. The rest of the tracks aren't quite as good but still, they're fun. As far as this era of Magma went, I like Attahk more than Üdü Wüdü though.

De Futura is now playing. It seems to be a pretty decent album. I'm doing a pretty good job of ignoring the lyrics and thus the singing is working OK for me.
